Travel Stops, Journey Deepens

Titles are teasers. Designed to capture attention and give insight the goal is to draw you in and make a connection.  The title for my third book was going to be, ‘Travel Far, Journey Deep’, essays regarding my travels and as time elapsed to show how the experience continued to make an impact on me into the future.  Then COVID Pandemic 2020 hit and travel was impossible, but there was still a journey.  The new title evolved to ‘Travel Stops, Journey Deepens’ and I decided to share a few pieces on my website.

Going deep is what we’ve been doing since the silent predator COVID entered our world.  We go deeper as we navigate the new normal and try to figure out what the next few weeks and potentially months holds for us. Little things that didn’t seems so little like walking into a store, going out to eat, going to work – now I realize how that was not only the norm for me, but a form of medication because that was the rhythm of me life.  Then the music stopped .

Stopping brings up more things than imagined.  As I watch TV show and movies now I notice how they are able to walk and reach out to each other.  They sing with each other.  They eat at tables together.  I miss family and friend gatherings.  I miss being able to jump into a car and not have to worry about masks, and hand-sanitizers.  The news informs me of impact and loss, of risks and discoveries, of challenges and attempts to keep us safe.

I read about the places I’ve visited and hear of their journey. I listen deeper to my own internal workings.  Join me and see how our journeys are similar and differ as we continue down this path.
